Something New

With 10 weeks until we pack up and head east to South Carolina, Cheney and I have decided to try something new each week that we remain in Louisiana. Event #1 was attending the Laignappe Dulcimer Festival in Port Allen, LA. For those of you unfamiliar with a dulcimer, it is a mountain instrument. My mother has been playing it for about 6 months and she told us about the upcoming event. Cheney and I actually were invited to be vendors at the craft booth section, so we decided to go and make a bit of cash. I must say that it was worth going for the laughter that we experienced at many of the songs and some of the circumstances surrounding the festival. On Saturday night, we decided to venture 1/4 of a mile up the road to walk along the levee of the Mississippi River. This levee follows the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. If we would have continued walking, we would have discovered beautiful plantation homes from eras gone by.

What will we do next? Who knows. Louisiana has all sorts of odd and peculiar happenings.
