Apple Pickin' Time

This week Cheney purchased a new car and we decided to take it for its first outing today. We set out to Hendersonville, North Carolina to see what adventures we might have. Hendersonville is only about 30 minutes away so we didn't leave until about 1:30. We ended up at Sky Top Orchard. There is nothing like a freshly picked apple. I guess we are spoiled from living in Washington state, but the grocery store's apples just don't taste the same. Did you know that some of them have been sitting in cold storage for about 1 year before you buy them? I don't know about you, but a fresh one just sounds more healthy. When we arrived the day was absolutely beautiful. Fall is here, at least in South Carolina. We tasted several varieties, enjoyed a fresh serving of caramel apples and then proceeded to harvest our own peck of apples. After leaving the orchard full and with a huge bag of several varieties, we ventured on to Flat Rock, North Carolina, Saludia, North Carolina, and Tryon, North Carolina. We then drove to Campbell's Covered Bridge before stopping for some of the best pizza we've had at the Pizza House.
