Katrina Aftermath

Just wanted to let those of you who check this blog know that we are safe and sound. Katrina came through yesterday morning. We were up at 6:00 to begin watching what would happen to New Orleans. At our house we didn't have a lot of devastation. The worst of the winds came through at about 11:00. That's when we lost power. Most everyone else in the area lost it between 6-8am. We were fortunate. At 2:00 it was over and we decided to do a little riding around. There are lots of downed trees and power lines in the Baton Rouge area. Most are still without power today (Tuesday).

I know most of you have probably been watching the news with all of the pictures of New Orleans. It is catastrophic. They are still rescuing people out of their attics. The interstates are closed due to floods and damage. There is no way of knowing how many people have perished. It will be a long few months getting that city back to any sense of normalcy.

Please say a prayer for those in New Orleans. There is no water, no food, no power, no phone. All of the shelters in the New Orleans area are being evacuated. Martial law has been enforced. It really is very similar to the tsunami.
